On The Road Problems ![]()
August 2005
Well, I have the worst possible news. Daisy is in a bad way. Getting her out of the garage the other day, I noticed a wee wet patch under her. Thinking that I probably had a small leak from the water pump, I took her to work, with a view to replacing the gasket later that night. Coming out of work, again, a now bigger patch underneath Daisy. Hmm... I get home, and put Daisy away for the night. I am working away for the next few days, so Daisy stays in the garage. The weekend arrives, and I bring Daisy out of the garage. As I do so, I can hear something swishing around (liquid). Looking at the floor in the garage, more water. Only the water is very brown. I look at Daisy, but find no leak around the water pump. To try and invoke the leak, I start daisy up.
Daisy had been sitting for 4 days, while I was away on business. When she started, oily water irrupted from every orifice. It would appear that the head had been cracked, and water was leaking in to the sump. My drive was covered in oily water. Daisys engine compartment was now covered in black water. Her engine is completely gone. The crack must have been there for a while, and I did not notice. Something turned it in to a significant leak, and she blew.
I am heart broken and speechless at the moment. The only course of action is a new engine. <sigh>..... Daisy, Daisy Daisy.

The drive got covered in oily water.

It sprayed the entire engine bay.

It even came bubbling out of the dip stick shaft. <sigh>...
