INTERIOR - August 2004 ![]()
Ok, the time has come for me to make a start on the interior of Daisy. In the grand scheme of things, the interior is no all that bad. However, lets start slowly, and see what we find.... So, first things first.... lets get the seats out..

The mounting bolts are buggered, and the seats rims and holding plates are rusty, but its only surface rust. 10 minutes with a coarse wire brush, and the mounting brackets went from this ...

A splash of black Hammerite paint... and .....

Good as new.
The seat bottoms are similar... with the old original grey starting to look its age... so... same thing.... coarse wire brush and 20mins for rubbing...

and now it looks like this .....

Makes a hell of a difference.

New mounting bolts and washers (will add the sizes later) and the seats fitted back in. They look brand new.
Now that was too easy Daisy....... not like you at all........ ;-)

Just started to take the headlinning off, its very worn, and torn all over the place due to age. As I pulled it back from the front, I saw a wee piece of paper. Turns out to be the original factory check list for Daisy.... Nice touch. I shall keep it. I will be rubbing out all that surface rust, and painting with Hammerite. But one thing at a time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Off with the sun visors (yes.... sun visors!!! - Daisy is a Deluxe model remember!).
A coat of paint and a touch up with hammerite, they went from this ...

To this .....

Its a wee bit hard to see in the photo. But they were a tired gray colour, with gray and rust coloured fittings. Now they are white, with black fittings. They look good as new.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have completely removed the head lining. It is well and truly dead.

The inside of the roof has a fair bit of surface rust, but its nothing that can not be easily sorted.

The headlining gripper rods are in very good condition, I wont even have to paint them..... bloody sharp though...and why fix it to the Daisy with 4 screws...... when you can use 23.

I removed all the metal rods from the lining before throwing it away. So that all I need is the cloth.

The rods are VERY rusty.

My 3 year old daughter helped my run the rods down with emery cloth, and she helped paint them in black hammerite.

Now they look like this...
