Engine Replacement

September 2005

Well, I have to admit that this has knocked me for six. After owning Daisy for nearly 3 years now, I thought that I knew her pretty well. It would appear that Daisy had other ideas. As you may have read in the August 2005 'On The Road Problems' section of this site, Daisys engine died. Watery oil irrupted from every orifice. The good news is, that only a few days later, I noticed an engine on ebay, the engine had been stored in a car dismantling place for years, and only recently rediscovered, and put up for auction. I won the bidding, and collected the engine yesterday.

It seems rather small in the boot of my Saab!!

It has obviously not seen the light of day in many years. This will be a lot of work. This first hurdle was how to get the engine out of my Saab's boot, and in to the garage!? - For this I enlisted the help of my next door neighbour, and his son-in-law. Many thanks to John and Kevin for helping me move a very heavy piece of cast iron 30 feet in to my garage. It was BLOODY heavy. But we managed.
